From every city, one voice for peace: Children of the Earth Libya launches on 20 November

Children's Day of Peace, 20 November — a campaign of the Founding Mothers Movement

On Friday 20 November 2026 — World Children’s Day — Children of the Earth will mark Children’s Day of Peace in a country where it has never had a presence before: Libya.

Our newest chapter, Children of the Earth Libya, was formally recognised in September 2026. Its coordinator has spent the weeks since reaching out to schools, community organisations, supporters and young volunteers across several Libyan cities, with one aim: that 20 November becomes the chapter’s first public act, and the beginning of its work.

The programme follows the three movements every Children of the Earth chapter shares:

  • Peace circles — children and young people gathered to talk about what peace means where they live, and what gets in its way. Reflect.
  • Creative art activities — children expressing peace in drawing, prose and music, with entries invited to the Children’s Peace Prize. Connect.
  • Digital-safety workshops — practical sessions on staying safe online, because for today’s children peace at home includes peace on the screen. Act.

The chapter’s motto says it plainly: From every city, one voice for peace.

Children’s Day of Peace is a campaign of the Founding Mothers Movement, launched at the Global Women’s Congress in September, where our founder Dr Nina Meyerhof spoke on children’s rights (read more). It invites partners everywhere to hold a local event on 20 November and pin it on a global map — so that the day becomes visible as one shared act, in many places at once.

To our chapters and hubs: you are invited to mark 20 November in your own way — a circle, a gathering, a bear sent across a border. Tell us what you are planning at contact and we will share it here.

We will report from Libya after the day.
